Vietnam Textile and Garment Industry Expo is the largest and most influential event in Vietnam textile and garment industry. As the only textile and apparel industry exposition recognized by UFI, Vietnam Fabric and Apparel Accessories Exposition was held at the same time. The two exhibitions aim to provide a one-stop shopping platform for buyers in Vietnam and surrounding countries.

Vietnam's textile and apparel exports amounted to 28.5 billion US dollars, up 5% year on year, accounting for 16% of Vietnam's total foreign trade exports. From 2014 to 2016, Vietnam's textile and apparel export growth rate declined year by year, 20.9%, 10.9% and 5%, respectively. The main reason is that export demand stagnates and competition from China, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh is very fierce. Vietnam's textile and apparel exports are expected to grow by 6-8% in 2017.

At present, the United States is Vietnam's largest textile and apparel export market. In 2016, Vietnam's exports of textiles and clothing to the United States increased by 5%, reaching 11.4 billion US dollars, accounting for 40.3%. It is expected to reach $11.7 billion in 2017, an increase of 7% over the previous year. In addition to the United States, Vietnam's main textile and garment export markets include the European Union (12%), Japan (10.2%) and Korea (8%). The free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Union will enter into force in 2018. In recent years, Vietnam's textile and apparel industry has continuously absorbed a large amount of investment from home and abroad, covering the entire industrial chain, to meet the new opportunities brought by the FTA. Participating in the exhibition can directly promote the image and products of Chinese enterprises, highlight the advantages of cost-effectiveness of Chinese products in globalization, and promote the rapid entry of advanced Chinese textile and clothing industry and footwear technology products into the Vietnamese market. Direct face-to- face trade negotiations with Vietnamese purchasers in the exhibition and grasp the available trade orders.
